What U Can Expect
13th&U is a new residential building that will soon find its home at the corner of 13th and U Streets NW. It will accommodate an estimated 138 residences along with convenient street-level retail to further enhance the vibrant U Street Corridor.
The building’s exterior design takes its cues from many of Washington DC’s iconic apartment houses—it’s a modern take on the area’s existing character and charm. Energy-efficient and high-performance on the inside, on the outside it is integrated seamlessly with window patterns, materials and details that respond to the scale and texture of the surrounding neighborhood.
Portions of the building’s primary façade, on U Street, are set back above the second floor to create a series of pavilions that sculpt the building’s massing for an interesting visual rhythm. The center pavilion is articulated by two end-bays and a central oriel-projection that marks the residential lobby’s welcoming entryway. Two curving corners frame an additional entrance on 13th Street.
Resident amenities include a club room, fitness center, and a rooftop pool and sundeck. The convenient location takes advantage of numerous public transit options including seven bus lines and the U Street/Cardozo Metro Station directly across 13th Street.
13th & U Gets Approved by the Historic Preservation Review Board
